Playing in the window on a rainy day
Noah’s first gummies
Head first
DIY toddler “stained glass”
During Noah’s nap today I was sweeping out the garage when I noticed a roll of contact paper….what?! I had been meaning to run to Target to get some but couldn’t justify driving 20+ minutes each way with Noah….and it just magically appears? These activities were meant to happen this afternoon.
I took two pieces of contact paper and taped them sticky side up to Noah’s table and to the window in the living room. The paper on his desk also got a plate filled with pom-poms, pieces of card-stock, and basket filler.
The second piece of contact paper got a bowl of tissue paper squares. The tissue paper is from my baby shower over a year and half ago…I might have hoarder tendencies.
Once Noah woke up from one of his epic naps (almost 3 hours), and a diaper change, and some nursing, and some cleaning up…it was time to go downstairs for our afternoon activity! Today I just let him find the activity and get started on his own.
He is sitting/standing on an ottoman so that he can reach all of the contact paper. The tissue paper had a little bit of static cling so he had a lot of fun picking up a handful and throwing it at the contact paper.
But he also enjoyed putting pieces on one at a time.
I loved that he would take breaks from putting tissue paper up to sip his milk. Normally milk is not allowed in the living room but I made an exception since he was being so good putting it back down on the window sill between sips.
The second contact paper station was not as big of a hit … but he still had a good time taking everything out of the plate and putting it on the sticky paper.
This was a very serious process:
Bubble wrap lane!
Noah pulled the bubble wrap out of his cabinet this afternoon so I decided to try walking on it again with him (this activity has failed in the past). This time I changed things up by taping a “road” down the bubble wrap and grabbing one of his trucks. He was pretty excited about the texture of the bubble wrap (maybe because it was stationary?).
He was not very excited about pushing his truck but he LOVED stepping on it — like this awesome action shot.
Then he tried stomping his feet while pushing the truck down the lane with his feet. He spent probably 10 minutes total playing with this and has revisited the bubble wrap a couple times over the past 2 hours. Most of the bubbles have popped but I’m going to try to get one more play out of this one!
